Using Wearable Technology to Stop a Campus Intruder

The Challenge
- In October 2022, an employee from another school was visiting Shaw Elementary School. As she was approaching the school, she saw a man just ahead of her acting erratically, trying to get into the building.
- Taking no chances, the employee initiated a lockdown with her CrisisAlert™ badge, which works on every campus in the district.
- Audio-visual notifications were instantly activated, including strobes placed throughout the entire building, alerting everyone that a lockdown was taking place and to initiate their safety protocols.
The Solution
- As soon as the lockdown was initiated, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department immediately received notification that a lockdown had been initiated at Shaw Elementary School; the suspect soon ran away and tried to flee campus.
- Law enforcement instantly responded, and the suspect was apprehended as soon as he jumped the campus fence; he never made it into the school.
