Phoenix Union Chooses CrisisAlert™ To Strengthen Safety Districtwide

Phoenix Union High School District will equip staff with wearable safety technology designed to accelerate response and connect employees with help when seconds matter.

PHOENIX, AZ, Sept. 17, 2026 — Phoenix Union High School District (PXU) today announced it is strengthening its commitment to the safety and well-being of students and staff by implementing CENTEGIX® CrisisAlert™ across the district. With the simple push of a button, staff will now be able to discreetly request assistance without having to locate a phone, open an app, or leave a situation to call for help. CENTEGIX will be rolled out to 24 PXU campuses/locations, equipping approximately 3,000 educators and other school staff with the CrisisAlert™ wearable badge.

“Creating environments where our students and staff feel safe is fundamental to everything we do,” said Thea Andrade, Superintendent of Phoenix Union High School District . “This investment gives our employees a direct way to call for assistance when they need it and strengthens our ability to respond quickly and effectively if any incident occurs. CENTEGIX is one more important layer in our robust safety strategy and a display of our continued commitment to the well-being of the entire Phoenix Union community.”

Empowering Staff When Every Second Matters

The CENTEGIX CrisisAlert wearable badge enables staff to request assistance from anywhere on campus. Staff can use the badge for a wide range of situations, from everyday incidents such as medical emergencies, student altercations, or behavioral events, to more serious campus-wide emergencies.

When an alert is activated, designated responders receive a notification along with precise location information, helping them quickly identify who needs assistance and where help is needed. In situations requiring a broader response, authorized staff can also initiate a campus-wide alert directly from the wearable badge.

Unlike safety solutions that depend on access to a mobile phone or a stationary panic button, the wearable badge stays with the staff member throughout the day, helping ensure access to assistance wherever an incident occurs.

“School safety starts with empowering people to get help when and where they need it,” said Brent Cobb, CEO of CENTEGIX. “At Phoenix Union, that might mean connecting a staff member with an administrator, nurse, or other on-site support for an everyday situation, or helping coordinate a broader response if a larger-scale emergency occurs. By putting that capability directly in the hands of staff, PXU is helping create an environment where educators can focus on teaching, and students can focus on learning and thriving.”

“Our responsibility is to make sure that all staff have the resources they need to provide safe working environments for themselves and safe learning environments for our students,” said Richard Franco, Executive Director of Marketing, Communications, and Safety. “This technology strengthens our existing safety layers and protocols by helping us get the right people to the right place as quickly as possible.”

PXU will provide staff with ongoing training and resources to ensure employees understand how and when to use the technology as part of the District’s existing safety and emergency operation procedures. Ready more about their choice to go with CENTEGIX in this news story.
