In the spring of 2022, at Flomaton Elementary School in southern Alabama, the CENTEGIX Safety Platform empowered onsite staff and administrators to respond immediately to a medical emergency, saving a studentโ€™s life.ย 

During recess, a child began choking when a rock was lodged in their throat. A staff member activated her CENTEGIX CrisisAlert badge and began performing the Heimlich Maneuver on the student. According to Flomaton Elementary School Principal Courtney McBride, โ€œIn less than 30 secondsโ€ฆwe had three additional adults there. Of course, [the CrisisAlert badge alerted] someone at the Central Office, they immediately, within 60 seconds, were calling my phoneโ€ฆ[The adjoining campusโ€™s] Assistant Principal came, his nurse came, our resource officerโ€ฆWe had seven adults around this child in less than 60 seconds.โ€

In this incident, school staff were empowered to implement a coordinated response, eliminating delays and getting help to the student immediately. In September of 2025, at a Valdosta City Schoolsโ€™ campus in Georgia, the CENTEGIX Safety Platform enabled school staff to execute a coordinated response to a potentially life-threatening incident. During dismissal at S.L. Mason Elementary School, an armed individual began shooting off campus just outside the schoolโ€™s visitor entrance. Two nearby law enforcement officers, including the schoolโ€™s SRO, heard the gunfire as the suspect began approaching the main entrance.ย 

Within 37 seconds, an assistant principal present at the scene initiated a lockdown using their CrisisAlert badge. The Safety Platform system immediately locked down the campus, triggering strobes, intercom messages, and computer takeovers, alerting staff and students both inside and outdoors. Following lockdown protocols, loaded buses left campus safely and staff ushered remaining students indoors. The SRO stopped the armed threat. Additional law enforcement arrived within three minutes. No students, staff, or parents were injured.

According to Dr. Craig Lockhart, Valdosta City Schools Superintendent, โ€œSeconds matter, and in a crisis, weโ€™re not always thinking clearly. CENTEGIX was able to put information out immediately. It issued the alert, told us it was a lockdown, and we executed the protocols. There was no time for miscommunication about whether it was a lockdown, a fire, or a medical event. Everybody knew what to do, and they were able to spend more time focusing on the response instead of the communication.โ€
