Not Just a Data Point, A Culture Shift: Using Data to Reduce Behavioral Incidents

The Challenge

  • In 2022, Normandy Schools Collaborative had about 3,000 out-of-school (OOS) suspensions occur across their campuses.
  • Becoming Superintendent in February 2023, Dr. Michael Triplett was determined to improve the culture of safety in his district and reduce behavioral incidents.

The Solution

  • Since August 2023, the district has invested $400K+ in safety and security initiatives, including purchasing CrisisAlert™ wearable panic buttons as part of the CENTEGIX Safety Platform©.
  • Fully implemented by April 2024, Safety Platform Dashboard analytics inform weekly disciplinary meetings and guide decisions in real time in areas like classroom management.

The Results

  • By the end of 2024, the district’s OOS suspensions had dropped to 1,400. In 2025, OOS suspensions have decreased to just 261—an 81% reduction.
  • Dr. Triplett credits the district’s ability to de-escalate situations early to insights from the Safety Platform’s alert data.
  • Dr. Triplett’s team no longer waits for incidents to occur—they adjust staffing in hallways, refine protocols, and train strategically, all based on data.

What we do, the protocols we use, our CrisisAlert system—and all of those things combined—lend to our ability to head things off before they escalate and become situations where they’re unmanageable.
